sprinta
The villa of a Sprinta retreat, in the evening

About us

We bring people together through sport and help ambitious amateur athletes give their best on race day.

The beginning

How Sprinta started.

Marco and Gianluca are athletes. Marco is a former national-level swimmer; Gianluca runs. They both know what it means to train for months for one goal, giving up time, energy and weekends to be ready on that day.

And they asked themselves: why should all that preparation come down to a few hours of racing and a number on a stopwatch?

That is where Sprinta comes from.

We create experiences for ambitious amateur athletes: we rent a villa near the start line of a big race, we select a community of runners and athletes who share the same ambition, and we live the whole race week together.

Training, meals, recovery, time together, the race and the final celebration.

Because a race should not be only something you run. It should be something you live at its best.

One house. One community. One race.
Sprinta.

The week

What the week looks like, day by day.

  • We eat together
  • We taper together
  • We sleep in the same house
  • We spend the evenings together
Arrival at the villa
Day 01

Arrival at the villa

A private transfer takes you from the airport to the house. The afternoon stays free. Dinner is cooked in the villa, and the coach opens the week at the table while the plates go around.

The easy morning run
Day 02

The first run together

An easy run at first light, with the coach running inside the group. Breakfast is already on the table when you get back and the morning stays slow. The afternoon is for the city.

Bib pick-up
Day 03

The day before

A short activation right after waking up, done before nine. The rest of the day stays empty, and that is on purpose. In the afternoon the bibs arrive and we go through the course: elevation, key points, weather. Kit gets laid out before dinner.

Race day
Day 04

Race day

Breakfast served in the dark, at the hour counted back from the gun. Private transfer to the start and warm-up together. Forty-two kilometres and one hundred and ninety-five metres. Then the villa is waiting, and dinner that evening is the party.

The last breakfast
Day 05

Leaving

Breakfast has no alarm: your legs decide. One last swim, and goodbyes.

Why ten spots and not twenty.

Ten is the number beyond which a group stops really knowing each other. At twenty, sub-groups form, and by the end of the week there are people you never spoke to. At ten, by midweek you know everyone’s name and what time they want to wake up on marathon morning.

A small group is also the only way to look after the details properly. With ten we know who eats what, who needs an extra hour of sleep, who starts at the back and who starts near the front. Above a certain number we would be managing a flow of customers, and that is the difference between a week you get through and one you talk about afterwards.

One of the ten

Who becomes one of the ten.

01

You already have the race on your calendar

Or you are decided enough to sign up. You arrive with the training already done, because those days are the taper, not the build.

02

You want to reach the start line with a clear head

The days before a race weigh more than the kilometres. Here transfers, meals and timings have already been decided by someone else.

03

You are up for spending the week with nine other people

You eat three times a day with nine people you did not know on Monday. If that sounds interesting rather than tiring, you are in the right place.

04

You trust people who know more than you

There is a coach and a nutritionist in the house. You can follow your own plan, but you are willing to listen to people who do this for a living.

05

You care about the result and about the week

You want to race well, and you also want to remember the days around the race. The two go together.

06

Ten right people are enough for you

You do not need the crowd of a group trip. You need people preparing for the same race as you.

The selection

How the selection works.

  1. 01

    Apply

The application takes a few minutes, costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is read by a person, not by an automated form.

  2. 02

    The call

If the profile fits we call you: twenty minutes on goals, pace and expectations, and for you to ask us anything. The room is assigned after that call.

  3. 03

    We build the house

We build every house looking at pace, goals and how far along your training is. We do not need to know anything else about you.

The people

Who you find in the house during the week.

The people who organise the retreats are the same people who live them. We are in the house all week, together with the person who cooks, the one who coaches and the one who takes care of nutrition.

Look at the races we have opened a house for and pick yours. The application commits you to nothing, and a person reads it.
